Hand Boiler
Hand-blown glass sculpture filled with liquid that ‘boils’ from your hand’s warmth!
The beautiful magic of science, right in the palm of your hand. This is a unique piece that demonstrates a pair of important scientific principles (Charles’s Law and vapour-liquid equilibrium) while looking truly cool.
This glass sculpture is designed to fit its bottom bulb into your hand and have you provide all the heat it needs to make its colourful, volatile liquid appear to boil. Through the process of evaporation, the liquid shoots up the glass tube into the top bulb where it’s bubbled by the vapour from the evaporation.
A scientific demonstration, a party trick, or a relaxation tool, you’ll love watching this liquid motion gadget bubble.
Age: Not a toy and not intended for use by children. Made of glass.
What You Get
Handboiler measuring approximately 16cm high in gift box, colour and shapes vary.
How it works
This lovely glass sculpture demonstrates Charles's Law and vapour-liquid equilibrium. When the heat from your hand warms the bottom glass bulb, it begins to evaporate the liquid inside which increases the pressure so the liquid expands. As a result of this, the liquid propels itself up the glass tube into the top bulb followed by the vapour bubbles created by the evaporation process. These vapour bubbles shoot through the liquid, causing it to bubble and appear to boil. This process will continue as long as your hand is on the bottom bulb.
